Whether it is entering the forest or someone’s home, whenever anything new comes into a space, it causes a momentary disruption to the existing order of things. I am aware that when I take myself into a new environment, I am causing a disruption and it is only through the grace of the place and the people that my presence is made welcome.  I tried to write my experience of being made welcome by nature and community in this way:

Welcome
We open our door to greet you.

Welcome.
Please walk in and make yourself at home.

Welcome.
We are pleased to meet your acquaintance.

Welcome.
Please walk gently as you enter this place.

Welcome.
Please bring your best self when you enter.

Welcome.
We greet you with warmth of heart and generosity of spirit.

Welcome.
We are willing to make space for you within our circle.

Welcome.
We are happy to have you among us.

Welcome.

Welcome.

Welcome.

May you feel the blessing of ‘Welcome’ wherever are and wherever you go.
